MEET THE TEAMMari Orkenyi,
MA, AMFT, APCC
Mari meets the complexity of being human with deep curiosity. Her approach is relational and collaborative, grounded in a mutual space that is safe, warm, and honest, where listening and discovery can unfold. She believes that so much of what we carry—suffering, desire, longing and conflict—is not simply something to fix, but something asking to be elaborated and heard. This means slowing down enough to let those experiences finally take shape in language and in the body. It is in this process of letting what needs to emerge come forward, of hearing oneself, being truly heard and witnessed, that change and expansion become possible. For Mari, the relationship between therapist and client is the very ground where transformation happens.
Mari works with adults, couples, teens, and children navigating a wide range of experiences, including childhood trauma, grief and loss, relationships, life transitions, parenting, identity, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, emotional dysregulation, uncertainty, and isolation. While her approach is grounded in relational and psychodynamic work, she also draws on somatic and embodied practices for clients who are interested in that exploration.
As an immigrant, Mari carries a personal experience of living in between cultures, around questions of belonging, home, and language. Her practice is grounded in a decolonial, intersectional perspective, with deep respect for each person's unique experience. Mari is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor. She holds an MA in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute, a Certificate in Contemplative Psychotherapy focused on Mindfulness and Compassion from the Nalanda Institute for Contemplative Science, and is trained as a meditation teacher at the Ananda School of Yoga and Meditation. She offers sessions in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
