Course Description
In this conversational workshop, Dr. Turnbull will share her expertise in neuropsychological assessment, providing an in-depth overview of the testing and observation process from referral through feedback. With a focus on practical application and demystifying the evaluation experience, participants will gain insight into what happens during a comprehensive neuropsych assessment—including the rationale behind test selection, the nuances of behavioral observation, and how various cognitive domains are measured and interpreted.
Dr. Janiece Turnbull is a leading clinical neuropsychologist in Pasadena who specializes in neurodevelopmental, cognitive, and behavioral assessment across the lifespan. Dr. Turnbull will walk attendees through the assessment journey, exploring how presenting concerns translate into specific testing batteries, what clinicians observe beyond standardized scores, and the crucial role referring therapists play in gathering collateral information and supporting clients through the assessment process.
This course is for therapists at all stages of their career who want to learn more about the neuropsychological assessment process, when to refer for assessment, how to prepare clients and families for what to expect, and how to effectively utilize assessment findings in ongoing therapeutic work.
Learning Objectives
Following the completion of this course, learners will be able to:
Identify indicators that an assessment is warranted.
Discern ways that therapists can promote a quality assessment and beneficial assessment process.
Support clients to make the most of the assessment outcomes.
